Acid Reflux

I have heard a lot of people discuss about acid reflux as heartburn while others believe that heartburn is different from acid reflux. Actually, heartburn is a symptom of acid reflux. Heartburn is only one of the many symptoms that results to acid reflux. This is due to poor digestion so if you eat too fast without chewing your food properly then most likely you will experience heartburn. If you are experiencing pain or discomfort upon belching or if you have the sensation to vomit then this is what heartburn feels like. It can sometimes be very painful so be aware if you are experiencing any of this.

Besides heartburn, there are many other symptoms that can indicate that you may have acid reflux. Take note of these symptoms and seek medical attention if in case it becomes too severe to handle. Some of the common acid reflux symptoms are:

·         Nausea – this is the most common symptom of acid reflux. You may feel as if you want to throw up and you can feel acid rising to your throat.

·         Hiccups – some people may not experience hiccups but this is actually one of the symptoms of acid reflux. Hiccups that lasts for a long periods may indicate that you have acid reflux.

·         Regurgitation – this symptom goes with nausea. When you experience a sour taste behind your throat, this means that you are regurgitating the acid contents from your stomach.

·         Dry cough – like hiccups, some people do not experience this but this is also an indication that you may have acid reflux.

·         Belching – frequent burping is also associated with acid reflux so be aware if you are experiencing any of this.

Symptoms may vary to every person but if you feel that you have all of this, seek medical attention as soon as possible.
